My friend laid her brother to rest a few short weeks ago. Matt had been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer just 11 short months ago. He was married for only 10 years and a father to three beautiful children.
He could have chosen to become despondent and many people would say Matt would have been justified in doing so. But from the moment he received this diagnosis and up to taking his last breath, Matt made a determined effort to spend the remaining months of his life blessing as many people he possibly could.
Matt set up a foundation to assist those with high medical costs and loss of wages while they were ill. He and his family held fund raising events, met with other cancer patients and their families, and made sure to spend his last moments living his life to the best of his ability.
Throughout the last months of Matt’s life, God gave him the peace he needed to tell his family not to worry, everything would be alright. Matt’s rock solid foundation in God’s promises, made firm through the shedding of the precious blood of Jesus Christ, gave him the strength and determination to reach as many people he could and passing along his story of faith to those who needed to hear it. God’s Holy Spirit paved the way for Matt and his family to spread the precious news of the Gospel to all those who would listen.
Matt’s imminent death made him realize how important sharing God’s message of hope to everyone he met.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:19-20 English Standard Version (ESV).
LWML Atlantic District’s focal point is just that— spreading the Gospel throughout the world. We do this through the support of our mission grants. We only have until March 31, 2020 to meet our 2018-2020 mission goal, and we still need more than $14,000 to fully satisfy this goal.
We urgently need your support and we ask you to pray for the AD LMWL.
Please ask God to pour His grace on us as we continue to serve Christ Jesus. Please consider becoming involved and sharing your God-given gifts with all the women of our congregations and our local communities. Bless us with your presence at our events, conventions, Bible studies, and special services.
Thank you in advance for your support!
