Jesus, Our Past, Present, and Future

This is the day! For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11ESV).

In ancient times the prophets foretold His birth as the children of Israel prayed, ”O Come, O Come, Emmanuel!” This is the day when that promise foretold by the prophets  is now  fulfilled.  Rejoice, Rejoice! Emmanuel has come, O Israel!

Today we join heaven and nature in proclaiming, “ Joy to the World, the Lord is come.” This is the day when earth receives her king!  The entire cosmos—the fields, floods, rocks, hills, plains, the entire earth, and the company of heaven join together in singing, “Glory to God in the highest, and peace to His people on earth!”

This is the day when we live in hope and faith as our gaze looks forward to when Jesus will appear- not as a frail infant, but as the King of Glory in all of His splendor. Jesus, our God and King, will wipe every tear from our eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things will pass away.  (Revelation 21:4.)

Dear Jesus, you are our past, present and future. To You, the Alpha and the Omega,

be honor, glory and dominion evermore and evermore. Amen.
